The Office of the Chief Security Officer (OCSO) is responsible for the maintenance, care and operation of the buildings, grounds and physical security enhancements of the U.S. Capitol Police, related campuswide physical security infrastructure and an off-site campus supporting other legislative branch agencies.

The OCSO includes the Capitol Police Buildings, Grounds and Security jurisdiction and designates and provides oversight of the execution of security-related and sensitive facility and infrastructure projects. The OCSO coordinates interagency emergency preparedness and manages internal security programs and policies, including personnel suitability and badging, continuity of operations, critical infrastructure and resiliency programs and the emergency management program.
