John Adams Building Garage Repair

John Adams Building Garage Repair

The John Adams Building in Washington, D.C.

The structural concrete at the two horseshoe entrances of the John Adams Building garage has significant corrosion. For the past few years, interim measures have been put in place to extend its life. Unfortunately, some areas have deteriorated to the point where interim measures are no longer an option, and parking cannot be supported.

The John Adams Building Garage Repair will replace structural concrete and waterproofing to extend the life of the garage. The rehabilitation will also include the bronze restoration for the existing light fixtures at the east and west entrance as well as the light fixtures and flag poles at the south side of the building.

Project Updates

A temporary construction fence has been installed at the east entrance of the building. This entrance will be closed and under construction, the west entrance to the building will remain open.

In summer 2019, the parking garage was closed. The pedestrian entrance into the building from the garage will be closed for the duration of this project.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is the work necessary now?
