Kennedy Center Musical Co-commissioned with the United States Botanic Garden Nominated

The Helen Hayes Awards announced the 2016 nominees for excellence in professional theatre on February 1.

The Kennedy Center musical, Flowers Stink, which was co-commissioned with the U.S. Botanic Garden, received two nominations for Outstanding Costume Design and Outstanding Theater for Young Audience. The musical, free and open to the public, premiered Saturday September 26, 2015 and was performed each Saturday through October at the Amphitheatre in the National Garden. The show was about how a young girl, struggling to write a nature-themed poem, learned to appreciate the great outdoors.

The Helen Hayes Awards ceremony is scheduled for April 2016. Congratulations to the Kennedy Center, the U.S. Botanic Garden, the actors, writers, designers and crew who helped make Flowers Stink a success.
