The Planning and Project Management (PPM) team manages the Architect of the Capitol's (AOC) capital planning and improvement efforts, provides architectural and engineering design and expertise and executes project and construction management and in-house construction services.
PPM is comprised of five divisions: Project Management, Energy and Design Services, Planning and Project Development, Construction, and Capital Projects.
PPM is responsible for Facility Condition Assessments, the Five-Year Capital Improvements Plan, the Capitol Complex Master Plan and other long-term planning and prioritization tools for AOC. PPM's Construction Division provides in-house construction and facility management support for urgent, minor construction needs. It is comprised of experts in numerous professional, skilled trades including plumbers, electricians, carpenters, painters and mechanics.
A member of PPM's team, the AOC Historic Preservation Officer, plays a key role in ensuring the historic and iconic buildings and grounds of Congress and the Supreme Court are maintained and enriched for present and future generations. This includes documenting and researching to evaluate the history of every building, and providing guidance to engineers and architects working to suport the modern needs of the building occupants while preserving the national treasures.
