The Curator for the Architect of the Capitol (AOC) oversees the museum, historical, documentary, records management and archival functions of the AOC. This work includes care for many of the works of art, statuary and fountains that beautify the buildings and grounds of the Capitol.
The agency's Photography Branch and Records Management and Archives Branch, which are supervised by the Curator, preserve and make accessible thousands of historical and project-related photographs and architectural and engineering drawings. The Photography Branch also documents current projects and events.
The professional staff of the Office of the Curator include photographers, archivists, preservation specialists, librarians and curators. They are available to provide suggestions and assistance with research projects both in the Curator's office in the U.S. Capitol and at the Records Center in the Ford House Office Building.
